It's hard to believe we're into the last couple weeks of July and while we still have so much summer ahead it really is a short season in our lives. We're trying to get out of the city as much as possible, exploring our own backyard in July (Canmore, Banff, Kananaskis) and then in August we will venture West to visit my brother in Surrey and then a few nights on Ruxton Island. We will pit stop in the Revelstoke area there and back to help break up the drive and tackle some fun adventures!
Camping has been a huge highlight of our year - the girls love it, the lack of 'things' to squabble over means imaginations go wild, and our oldest is really into helping set up and take down camp. Yes! We are tenters! A trailer is a dream, but I think that's a 2017 goal.
Speaking of trailers - if you're on Instagram check out @myrtlesmakeoveryyc - I'm so in awe and inspired.
Last week my uncle came to town - he lives in Hawaii but there is still a lot of fondness for the prairies and mountains left in him. He is an amazing videographer and photographer, we were so lucky to have him take the camera for the day (he insisted) and grab not only some gorgeous flower shots but some of us as well!
Important News About Ordering
With July winding down and as we gear up to our trip there are some important dates to keep in mind:
I hope you're having a fabulous summer!
So I had this intention of blogging a lot more. But then again I always have that intention be it personal or with my other company (The Chipper Nest), and there's only so much writing a gal can do. One night I will sit down and post about some winter adventures I took. It will likely be on a sweltering day in July when all I want to do is roll in the snow.
There seems to be an endless amount of markets one could apply for. But there are only so many weekends I can devote away from my family. I love markets, I love meeting new people. But to be frank and to grumble a bit, they're so much work. As a new business exposure is key and so for now I will do markets but I really don't know if that's the future forever. Timing is tricky with hubby's shift work, kids activities, and trying to plan a life and social activities with friends who mostly work 9-5. Yes, I'm all grown up and such and those things seem more important some days.
So that's the truth - come find me at a market this year before I become some lady hiding behind my boards only on Etsy. Check out my upcoming events.
Wishing you tulips & blossoms!
After a lovely break over Christmas and New Year's I am once again craving the urge to create. The first batch of boards is live on Etsy!
I am so please to announce that I will be making a contribution to Tree Canada this week from all the sales in 2015. I will be purchasing 35 trees to replant! Thank you, thank you for your support!
One of the joys of being a small shop owner is that it gives me the opportunity to give back. I am so please to have offered silent auction items for the Tri-It Spin-a-Thon benefiting Mito Canada. Having been involved in the running and triathlon community for a number of years this seems like a perfect fit for Agnes in August.
I have lots of Adventures planned for 2016 already including three overnight mountain stays in Jasper, Canmore, and Lake Louise. Sounds like I need to be over-nighting in Banff too! I've also got loads of day trips planned so hopefully I can get some product shots out in the mountains. What adventures are you taking this year?
Just before Christmas, Branch Market and Studio started carrying my boards. They are located in Black Diamond in what looks to be the quaintest cottage in the village. The drive out there is scenic so I highly recommend a trip.
Coming soon is an amazing joint venture with Little Blue Canoe. Kelly and I are becoming fast friends (she is so much fun!). Look for a unique offering being paired with something gorgeous coming soon.
Here's a few images of the boards available and some ideas for styling. The boards will all stand on their own or come with a saw tooth hanger attached for easy hanging.
If you have a board I would love to see it in your home. Don't forget to tag me on Instagram - @agnesinaugust
All the best!
I am really trying to channel more excitement than anxiety as I prep for Market Collective this weekend. I want to make this short and sweet so I can get back to work and have as much possible ready.
Our basement has been converted to work station number one. The gym floor is a great hard surface for pounding nails and it dampens a lot of the noise while my girls are slumbering upstairs. I'm a total night owl - it takes a lot of discipline for me to not work until three in the morning. It's been great to have Christmas specials on TV making noise in the background, I've been watching Planet Earth - and then last night at my girl friend's suggestion I listened to a few podcasts. There's a rhythm and structure to the process which I find meditative. I'm able to think about nothing and everything all at once.
Our kitchen island has also become home to smaller projects like watercolour Christmas sets, gift tags, and some classic sunrise/sunset inspired watercolours. I chip away as the girls colour at the table or eat their meals. Market prep has been more involved than I planned and I can't say thanks enough to hubs for doing the tedious job of attaching the saw tooth hangers to the bigger boards.
Here's a few sneak peak shots at what's coming to the market with me. Can't wait to see you all!
